Minneapolis Raceway to Use RACEceiver Radios in 2010
UPDATED: New model available see SPECIAL OFFER!
by Dale Leech
The Minneapolis Raceway will initiate the use of exciting technology in the 2010 season by utilizing RACEceiver Radios. All drivers in all classes who race at the raceway in 2010 will be required to purchase or rent, and use these communication devices at all events. These compact scanners increase driver safety, speed up communications and will help drivers save money. Other dirt tracks in Kansas will also be using RACEceiver radios this season. RACEceiver radios can be used at most all tracks.
What are the advantages: The number one advantage is increased driver safety with direct communications during each race regarding cautions and other potential safety issues. There should be a significant savings in fuel usage with shortened cautions due to communication about lineup positioning. Drivers off the track will be kept up to date on the status of the current race. Better communication equals shorter race night.
What are RACEceivers: The RACEceiver radios are a compact scanner for one-way communications. They can be worn on the driver's safety suit and have a wired ear piece. Race control will transmit to all drivers and track personnel simultaneously. Minneapolis Raceway will sell the RACEceiver Elite 1600 with an upgraded PRO ear pieces. The ear piece can later be fitted into a molded ear piece if the driver chooses. More information can be found at the following website: www.raceceiver.com/c~6.php
What is the cost: Minneapolis Raceway was fortunate to have the purchase of the RACEceiver radios sponsored by Auto-Tek of Minneapolis. This sponsorship provides a discount for the devices to drivers throughout the 2010 season. We chose to offer only the RACEceiver and upgraded PRO earpiece for sound quality necessary to help insure that they can be heard. This price is still very competitive, or cheaper, than packages offered elsewhere. A combination of the RACEceiver radio and PRO earpiece is available for $129.99. Separately, the RACEceiver radio is priced at $99.00 and the PRO earpiece is priced at $49. Rental of the RACEceiver radio for a night of racing will be available for $20.00, earpieces will not be for rent, only for purchase. Kansas sales tax will be added to all purchases and rentals. We thank Auto-Tek for their sponsorship of these communication devices. Auto-Tek provides quality auto repair. Dave Sweat(our IMCA certified tech inspector) and Gary Keating are the owners of Auto-Tek. NOTE: The PRO earpiece provides significantly better audio than the ROOKIE version, or mp3 player type earpieces due to noise suppression.
SPECIAL OFFER: In order to make our RACEceivers more compatible for our drivers, we are offering a model that is accepted for use at more tracks in the area. The only model available is the Elite 1600 with the upgraded Pro Earpiece. We will offer the Elite 1600s with the Pro Earpiece for $129.99 including sales tax. This offer will expire on March 15th, 2010 and will go back to $138.18 for the 2010 season. Please add $10.00 for shipping.
You may pickup your radios at Auto-Tek or when you get to the track. Contact David Sweat @ 785-820-1238 or Terry Robins @ 785-392-3245 for more information. Checks should be made to Minneapolis Raceway and sent to Auto-Tek at 101 S. Concord St. Minneapolis, KS 67467
Minneapolis Raceway is looking forward to the 2010 season and the advantages that will be provided to all of us through the use of these RACEceiver radios.
