Minneapolis Raceway uses National Fire Prevention Association 610 "Guide for Safety at Motorsports Venues"

Every rescue worker is a trained firefighter and carries a seatbelt cutter.

Minneapolis Ambulance is on premises and staffed from the start of Hot Laps to the end of the last race.

Our firefighting and rescue systems are checked weekly by Minneapolis Raceway and Air & Fire Systems, Salina Kansas.

Safety is very important to us.  Drivers and teams, please throughly check all your safety equipment.

For driver and public safety reasons Minneapolis Racing facility has two completely independent electrical systems.

system one, the power company DS&O, provides 25% of the power for the lighting of the racing surface, pits, and public areas.

The remaining 75% of the lighting is provided through a diesel generator owned by Minneapolis Raceway, therefore greatly reducing the chance of any dangerous blackout conditions.

Thanks again for racing with us and let's have a safe 4th of July!

Waste Disposal

On the north side of Victory Lane we have placed a Waste Oil Disposal building.  If you wish to dispose of your used oil or filters at the track you MUST use this facility.  Please help us spread the word.

Please check your removeable panels and make sure they are securely attached.  We've had a couple incidents and don't want this to become a safety issue.

If you race at Minneapolis Raceway and have t-shirts for sale, as a courtesy we will display and sell them for you at our Merchandise Store.

Please contact Terry for further information.

Monitors have been installed at the safety office, tech office, scales, and transponder office that display line-up information.  Line-up printouts are still posted at the scale office.

There is a suggestion box at the back of the tech office.

Two highly visible poles have been installed to help drivers transition from the racing surface to the pit and tire changing area.

Added in corner two - an elevated platform for track officials and safety personnel, so we might better observe the backstretch and the backstretch runoff area.

Please note that we have made two safety improvements to the track.

  1. The addition of two yellow strobe lights to the caution light system which now totals 15 lights.
  2. The wall on the front stretch has been painted white to make it more visible.

To: All Minneapolis Raceway Drivers and Crew Members:

Regarding: Packing The Track

It is advantageous both to the you the driver and Minneapolis Raceway that the track be packed each night

before Hot Laps begin.

Effective immediately, when you or your crew have participated in packing the track for the required

number of laps you will be given upon leaving the track, an “MRW Piston” Token. This Token must be

returned to the official at the line up area prior to your car entering the track for hot laps.

If you do not wish to pack the track or arrive late and still desire to do hot laps, the “MRW Piston” Tokens

will be for sale for the amount of $20.00 at the Pit office. Returning this purchased token to the raceway

official in the line up area will allow you to participate in hot laps.

PLEASE NOTE: Minneapolis Raceway requires racing helmets on drivers who are packing the track. An

exemption to this requirement exists for those who are driving vehicles other than race cars.

**Minneapolis Raceway requires use of the same safety gear for HOT LAPS participation that are required

for racing conditions**

NEW CHECK-IN TIME

Please note the new check-in cut off time is 6pm instead of 6:30pm

If you don't sign in by 6pm you will start at the back of your heat race.

LIneups

There are screens in the safety office window and scale office window that will show the lineups for the night.

Blue Light

We will be working to reduce the time it takes to run a race.

Time limits will be imposed on all races.  The time will depend on the number of laps.

We are assigning a one minute per lap time limit to all races.

If a race reaches the time limit, a blue light will come one and a blue flag will be shown and if there is another caution the race will end and the results will be posted according to what the next green flag lineup would have been.

A red flag will stop the clock.

The time limit on races will be used at the track’s discretion.
